A 24.2% gain. Bitcoin rose 3.5% to $80,500 on Wednesday afternoon, The Block reported at 3:09 p.m. Eastern, after briefly pushing toward $81,000, while ether gained nearly 6% to $2,433. Strategy and Coinbase shares rose about 6%, Block jumped 15% after earnings, and Strategy's STRC preferred touched $100 for the first time since May. Futures dropped as much as 2.5% on early vote counts before recovering fully, and about $469 million of leveraged positions were liquidated, per Nexo, whose analysts wrote that "markets took the Democratic win in stride." Bitwise's Matt Hougan reviewed the ten largest crypto hacks and found bitcoin higher 30 days later in five and lower in five, arguing: "Hacks would impact the market if they suggested there is no safer way to hold bitcoin, but there is." 21Shares' Matt Mena is watching whether $76,000 to $78,000 holds and whether $80,000 to $82,000 can be sustained. From $80,500 with 58 days left in the year, $100,000 takes 0.375% a day or 2.65% a week compounded, $90,000 takes 11.8%, and a return to $126,000 takes 56.5%. That is math, not a call.
