Strategy spent the money buying back its own preferred stock. Between October 19 and 25 it repurchased 2,068,459 shares of its variable-rate Stretch preferred, ticker STRC, for about $204.9 million, according to a filing disclosed on October 26 and reported by Bitcoin.com News. That brings its STRC buybacks to about $398 million over two weeks, compared with $22.1 million spent on bitcoin in the same stretch. The cash came from its dollar reserve, which fell to $242.4 million from $447.3 million a week earlier, and about $956.8 million remains under the preferred repurchase authorization. Its bitcoin holdings stayed at 848,517 BTC, bought for about $64.02 billion at an average of $75,446 per coin. With bitcoin near $79,600 at the time, the company is still above water on the stack, though not by much. The filing gives no reason for the pause. STRC closed at $99.36 the prior Friday, just under its $100 par. Strive went the other way the same week, adding 6,182 BTC for about $511.4 million at an average of $82,732, per chief executive Matt Cole, which brings it to 43,000 BTC. Strive's buys this month have been funded partly by its SATS preferred, which pays a fixed 15% dividend.
