"Today, tokenization is obviously an important trend. We see it across asset classes," Goldman Sachs chief executive David Solomon said on the bank's third-quarter earnings call on October 13. He pointed to work already done: "We've tokenized bonds. We have a number of money market funds that are tokenized, real estate for certain clients." Goldman joined the DTCC tokenization service launch in July and is evaluating applications that could run at larger scale, per Bitcoin.com News. On policy he was plain: "We were publicly supportive of CLARITY passing. It wasn't perfect, but we thought it would be good." He also kept expectations in check, describing blockchain-based activity as still relatively small, likening the shift to the move to electronic equities trading that Goldman handled well, and announcing no specific decentralized finance, prediction market or agentic trading product. The quarter around those comments was a strong one: net revenue of $18.68 billion, equities revenue up 72% year over year to $6.4 billion, and a record $3.37 billion from equities financing. A bank with results like that has no need to oversell a new business line, and the restrained tone reads accordingly.
