Bitcoin sits near $82,760.84 as of 14:01 UTC Saturday, up about 0.2% in a $82,229 to $83,204 range, on roughly $18.97 billion of volume. The more useful number is positioning. Perpetual futures open interest has fallen to about $64.97 billion from around $69 billion earlier in the week, following a 24-hour stretch into October 8 that liquidated about $1.12 billion, of which roughly $1.04 billion was longs. A later snapshot shows the pace cooling to about $82.37 million across 52,702 traders, split almost evenly between longs and shorts. That is what deleveraging looks like after a crowded trade gets cleared out, and it is usually a healthier starting point than the one that preceded it. Support sits near $80,000, resistance near $87,000, with $84,000 the options max pain level after Thursday's expiry. Fear and Greed has recovered to 64 from 59.
